Terms of service

XOsign is an information platform. We surface what the law typically requires, what most contracts include, and where common disputes happen. We do not:

• Provide legal advice for your specific situation
• Decide whether a clause is enforceable
• Represent you in disputes
• Guarantee a contract holds up in court

When the stakes are high, consult an attorney. We'll even help you send a read-only copy of the contract to one — free, with the “Send to attorney” button in the signer experience.

Generate, send, sign, audit, and store contracts and related documents (proposals, invoices, purchase orders, agreements, forms, etc.) related to your business. Use the AI features to extract data from your own documents or documents your counterparty has shared with you.

• Anything illegal in your jurisdiction
• Documents you don't own or have permission to process
• Impersonating someone else as the sender or signer
• Reverse-engineering or scraping the platform

You retain all rights to documents you create or upload. You grant XOsign a limited license to host, process, and display them as part of operating the service. We do not train models on your data.

“Process” includes one step that can happen without you pressing a button: when you upload a document, XO reads it once to file it — what kind of document it is, who the parties are, the key dates and amounts — so you can find it and work with it. In XOsign the account owner can turn this off (“Reading new files”, in Settings under Plan & usage); a file uploaded or imported in XOfiles is always read. Unlocking a document is a separate step you choose: XO reads it in full and makes it an XOdoc. Our privacy policy explains what each read uses and what is kept.

Separately from AI model training, we internally measure and improve how accurately XOsign reproduces a document when it is unlocked, using documents processed through our own team's accounts.

XOsign sends transactional text messages through our messaging provider, Telnyx. XOsign is the sender of record for every text; we never send on a third party's behalf, and we never send marketing texts. There are two cases:

Account notifications. When you add your mobile number and check the SMS opt-in box at sign-up (or later in Settings), you agree to receive account and document notifications by text — for example signing reminders, completed-signature confirmations, and security codes. This is optional and is never required to create or use an account. Message frequency varies; message and data rates may apply. Reply HELP for help or STOP to unsubscribe.

Document delivery. You can also choose to deliver a document to a recipient by text. When you enter a recipient's number, you authorize XOsign to send them a transactional signature request and a link to open the document.

• If you enter someone else's number, you confirm you have their consent to be contacted by text about that document. You — not XOsign — are responsible for that consent.
• Messages are transactional, not marketing. Message frequency varies with how many documents you send. Message and data rates may apply, depending on the recipient's mobile plan.
• Recipients can opt out anytime by replying STOP; replying HELP returns help info. After opting out, that number stops receiving texts — you'll need to reach them another way (e.g. email or a copied link).
• Mobile carriers are not liable for delayed or undelivered messages.

XOsign ships templates — contracts, proposals, invoices, notices — as a starting point. They are drafted from what the law commonly requires and what these documents usually contain. They have not been reviewed or approved by an attorney, they are not tailored to your business, your state, or your counterparty, and using one is not legal advice. Read what you send before you send it. Templates you write yourself are yours.

You can use the demo without signing up. It runs in a temporary guest account with a sample document in it. Guest accounts and everything in them are deleted seven days after they are created — do not use one for real work you need to keep. Signing up turns the guest account into a real one and the deletion no longer applies.

On paid plans we keep a register of every copy of a document that leaves the system into someone's possession, and on plans that include it, that copy carries its own serial number marked into the file. It is there so the owner of a document can trace a copy that turns up where it should not have. It identifies the copy, not the person reading it. Free accounts get neither.

The Free plan requires no payment. Paid plans are charged monthly or annually through Stripe.

What you are buying. What the AI does is paid for in credits, charged per page of document: 1 credit a page when XO reads and files a document or when you unlock it, 6 credits a page for a Deeper read (Summary, Clauses, Risks and Suggest edits), and 3 credits a page for each language you translate into. You see the price before anything is charged. Your plan's monthly credits are used first; they reset each month and do not roll over, on monthly and annual plans alike. If you need more, you can buy credits; credits you buy do not expire. If an unlock or another AI step fails, the credits held for it are given back.

Cancelling. You can cancel anytime from Settings → Billing. Cancelling stops the next renewal; you keep paid access to the end of the period you have already paid for, then move to Free. Your documents stay where they are.

If a renewal charge fails. We email you and your plan keeps working while Stripe retries the card — retries run for roughly two weeks. If they all fail, the subscription ends and the account moves to Free. No data is deleted at any point in that.

XOsign is provided as is. We don't warrant that the service will be uninterrupted, error-free, or fit for any particular legal purpose. Our maximum liability for any claim is limited to the fees you paid us in the 12 months preceding the claim.

Florida law applies. Disputes go to the state courts of Palm Beach County, Florida. You give up the right to a jury trial and the right to participate in a class action.

If we change these terms in a way that matters, we will say so on this page and update the date at the top. Continuing to use XOsign after that means the new terms apply.
